Three New Dell PCs with Windows 8 Now Available for Pre-Order

Over the past few months Dell has been talking to customers and the market about our upcoming consumer and commercial PC lineup and why we believe it will be the best possible Windows 8 experience. We’re just as excited as our customers are about these new products, and can’t wait to deliver them to the market.

Today marks a very important milestone in our journey: Dell is making the XPS 12, the new XPS 13 UltrabookXPS One 27 and the Inspiron One 23 available for pre-order to customers in the United States. All of these machines run on Windows 8 and have natural touch interfaces. And we’re offering a Windows 8 option for customers on our current Inspiron and XPS systems, and select Latitude and OptiPlex models, starting today.

Before I get in to a few more details around the Windows 8 systems we’re offering for pre-order, here’s a video that explains our overall goal with the XPS product line:

XPS 12: Two Products in One

The XPS 12 is a full-featured 12-inch laptop that converts into a touch-powered tablet thanks to its unique flip hinge design. The Full HD display (1920 x 1080) looks great whichever way you choose to use it. And because it runs Windows 8, the touch capability works great both ways. Pricing starts at $1,199. You can go directly to the XPS 12 product page here for more details.

New AIO Desktops: Now with Touch

The award-winning XPS One 27 AIO desktop has stood out from the AIO crowd with its gorgeous quad HD (2560 x 1440) display. To take advantage of Windows 8 robust touch capability, we now offer a touch-enabled version of that quad HD display. Beyond that, the new XP One 27 includes an articulating stand tilts the display to a 60 degree angle which means more flexibility when using the touch display. Pricing for the XPS One 27 with touch starts at $1,599.99. See the XPS One 27 product page for more details.

For the Inspiron One 23, we started with the same space-saving, single cord setup design and added a touch-enabled full HD (1920 x 1080) display to take full advantage of the Windows 8 touch experience. The fact that the Inspiron One 23 is built on Intel’s Ivy Bridge chipset means you can expect great performance for a reasonable price, starting at $779.99. See the Inspiron One 23 product page for more details.

Not to be overlooked, we’re also making available an updated version of our award-winning XPS 13 Ultrabook. Since we introduced it, the XPS 13 has been very popular option for both home and business users alike. To make it better, we updated it to the Ivy Bridge chipset. Customers can expect even better overall performance, especially on the video side with the updated Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics. Pricing starts at $999. How to pre-order your system

Customers in the United States, Canada and select countries in Europe can pre-order any of the above systems beginning today. Home users in the United States can pre-order by clicking here for laptops or here for desktops. Clicking on the banner below will take you to the laptops Windows 8 pre-order page. We’ll be rolling out the ability to pre-order these systems in some other countries soon. These new Dell systems will start to ship once Windows 8 is available on October 26.

Beyond these new Windows 8 products I outlined above, also starting today, customers can now pre-order other Dell machines with Windows 8 installed. We’re offering several systems for preorder in the countries like United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France and Japan. Pre-orders will be available in more countries soon. The easiest way to pre-order other Dell systems is to go Dell.com. The image below is the existing Dell system pre-order page on Dell.com that Home Users in the United States will see. If you’re in a country outside the United States that I listed above, go to Dell.com and select your country from the drop down list in the middle of the page on the far left. From there, look for the Windows 8 pre-order banner to choose the system that’s right for you.

Update from Lionel: To clarify a bit, on Dell.com there’s two main links: one to pre-order Windows 8 laptops and another to pre-order Windows 8 desktops.

This is just the start and you’ll be hearing a lot more details on additional consumer products as well as our redesigned Latitude and OptiPlex PCs in the coming days and weeks.
